- This sounds like a modem overrun error, i.e. your system can't always fetch
- the incoming data from the UART before the next byte arrives and overwrites
- it. If you don't have a 16550A UART or equivalent, get one. Disable
- multi-sector IDE transfers (often called 'block mode' in the BIOS setup
- screen), disable write-back ('deferred') disk caches, and reduce the serial
- port speed. Check out the Navas FAQ for more hints
